I'm afraid I can't help you with that. You're the one who should know what it is you want peaplo to learn about your board.
Also, while this support board is a good start to get your forum known, you should consider finding places where you can actually reach your target audience - like other bulletin boards with a similar topic.

Goto "Admin-Forum" and select any category or Subforum. You can then change the access rights seperately for everey user group.

Hm, odd question

I guess I'd say threads are a way to sort discussions in a forum by topic. I.e., this ist a thread called "Announcing a new forum"...

Wikipedia has this to say about conversation threading...
