what chat room do you recomend so that it can remain private to my form ie if you are not signed in you can not see it

If you integrate your chat in an own HTML page (as described in this topic) you can decide that "guests" (and every other user group) are not able to access your "own html pages" - therefore they won't see your chat. To set the access permissions go to Admin->Users and select the depending user group. Afterwards you can set the permissions easily via the check boxes for every part of your forum.

We do not have a recommendation for a free chat software - but google knows quite a lot Have a look here, should be easy to find one, where users have to register first. Good luck and let us know, if you need help integrating your chat.
