This might sound stupid.
I have created a forum, now what do I do next?
How do I put it on my site, if I paste a link to the forum I get my account,
How do new member join my forum?

Hi Andrew,
Well no, it’s not a stupid question. I’d suggest the next thing you do is set it up the way you want it to look and operate. For instance –
1: Do you want the forum to be completely ‘open’ for anyone to view and/or comment? If not, then you need to go into the Admin menu and alter the relevant settings.
2: Are you happy with the default appearance? If not, then once again use the Admin menu to select one of the predefined forum styles.

You’re asking how do you put it on your site, and by this I assume that you’ve already created a website of your own. You can either paste a link the way you say you have already tried, the link should be no more than the forum ID ie; “1234456.xobor.com”. Or you can use a frame to apparently open the board directly into your website page.

You say that a link takes you to your account? Having created a website you must at least know how ‘cookies’ work. They’re why you go straight into your user account from the link, unless you log out of your forum first. Otherwise the host will recognise the login cookie, and you’ll go straight into your account.

How you get users to join is entirely up to you. When creating a forum you usually have an idea of what kind of topic(s) it is going to be about, and friends that share your interest. Once you’ve set the board up the way you want it, then email your friends with the link. Depending on the way you’ve set it up, the forum software itself will give visitors the option to register as new members.

Take a look at the way this support forum operates for instance. Its set-up to be wide open to all visitors, and you don’t have to register to post or start a new thread. However, if you don’t register then you can’t access some of the board functions and will be shown as a ‘Guest’ and not a 'user’.
