I am a newbie here and I seem to have messed up my last post. - so here it is again

My problem is ...

I have created a private forum - so only registered users can access it - so far OK

But when an unregistered user arrives at the registration page, they can see who the newest member is.
They can also click on 'Members' and see who all the members are

Is there any way of suppressing that?
- I haven't managed to find it yet!

As far as I know the members list is open to all visitors regardless. No worries though, as long as members use 'nicks' and not their regular names, thats how my forum is set up and having the members list 'open' doesn't give any real probs

you can hide these status updates, just navigate to Admin->Colors & Settings->Functions On/Off and select the functions you need, let us know if you're still having problems, thx

Actually it is Admin->Layout->Colors & Settings->Functions On/Off

That fixed most of it, except I couldn't find a way of suppressing...

Yes right, it's Admin->Layout... sry.

Ok, you could try this: go to Admin->Layout->Colors & Settings->CSS&HTML and insert

code deleted, fades out other areas, sry ;)

into the CSS field. CSS will be overwritten, newest member won't be displayed any more, FAQ still visible, but statistics will be hidden as well. Point is, newest member won't be shown for registered members also... So if you want to hide newest members for guests, but have them visible for registered members, you have to change the template.

Actually - it didn't work as intended!

- although it removed 'We welcome our newest member....'

- it ALSO prevented new topics being created - the display of the whole topic area was suppressed so you could neither give it a title or content.

Removing the code and new topics are OK, but still that ' we welcome our newest member...' is there!

Any more ideas?

Ooops you're right

OK, then the only possibility which exists is changing the template. In case you're changing the template, you won't get our updates automatically any more and you have to update your forum manually (+ you need programming skills). We anyway brood on how to manage these options in a more comfortable way, so I recommend you wait until we implement these functions before fiddling around with the template

I actually resolved it by enrolling a new member with the name 'invisible'

- so it says: We welcome our newest member: invisible

- I think we can live with that!
