I was going to request this, but spotted that it had already been raised.
It seems a shame that a well-used feature like "Thank You" cannot add more value. If each time a user was thanked, a counter was incremented and that was displayed by their avatar at each post, then that would allow members to add weight to that user's comments. It would also add some healthy competition - people are competitive on forums and want to be seen to achieve certain levels - being thanked by their peers is a very democratic way of achieving this.
Here is an example of how this looks on another forum (diynot.com, but many forums have "upvotes" / "thanks", etc for their members);

Hi there
I've seen a couple of other people ask about this and their requests were rejected, but I'd like to try once more
We'd like the option to take a backup of the site (manually would be fine) perhaps once a month, for disaster recovery. We understand that you already have continuity measures in place but this would be for the extremely unlikely chance that Xobor ceased to exist(*).
A button that copied a mysql dump file would be enough. We're not looking for any other re-import functionality, just to know that we could (with some effort) reconstitute some of the site structure if Xobor ran into problems.
Thanks, Scott (l200forum.com)
===
(* I know that you stated in another thread that Xobor is not in any trouble, and I'm not suggesting for a moment that it is. Telling us that your business is secure is certainly reassuring, but no business is infallible - good business practise dictates that we have adequate data backups and disaster recovery process in place, which I am sure you will appreciate) |

Thanks Ingmar. I can confirm that it was fixed later that evening. |

We just started getting this problem an hour or so ago - can't upload pics via attach in post or to the gallery.

This is becoming a real pain and we're getting lots of duplicate threads because members can't find the original thread.
Is there an estimate of when this will be fixed? |

@xobor The problem is in the headers within our sites, and the references they are making to global101.css and script101.js
The links (which we don't believe we can change?) in the HEAD element are set to (I can't include the full paths as I'm not allowed to add links in this post);
1 2 ...full-path-omitted.../style101-tglobal-110-global-1.css/1 ...full-path-omitted.../script101.js/1
The problem seems to be in the trailing /1 - when I save the page to my PC and replace the links with;
1 2 ...full-path-omitted.../style101-tglobal-110-global-1.css ...full-path-omitted.../script101.js
then I can get the local copy of my page to display correctly.
Has something changed with you that breaks that "/1" suffix? Or are the headers set incorrectly?
Thanks Scott

We have quite a lot of smileys, but I'm not sure which ship with the core Xobor app and which are custom to our forum.
A lot of the smileys have keyboard shortcodes. For example, ":" and "D" becomes a smiling smiley; :D
The problem is that when we attach, upload and attach a file then the smiley-handling comes before the image handling. Imagine that I upload an image called "DuffBanners.png". When I insert that attachment, then the code is;
1 [[File:DuffBanners.png|none|auto]]
But the xobor code interprets this first as a ":" and "D" and displays the smiley so, instead of displaying the image, we get; [[File:1-imagesproblem.png|none|fullsize]]

There is an issue when uploading multiple images from an iPhone or iPad - the first image is displayed repeatedly in the post.
The problem is that when they are uploaded, they are all given the same name "image.jpg", so the image code when you click-to-insert all reference the same name;
1 2 3 4 [[File:image.jpg|none|auto]] [[File:image.jpg|none|auto]] [[File:image.jpg|none|auto]]
You can see this in action at; http://www.l200forum.com/t10324f13-iPhon....html#msg161768
The solution, I would guess, is to add a unique constraint to the uploaded files (maybe put "1", "2", "3" etc in front of their names?)

Someone asked about this on our forum, and I've posted a response here → http://www.l200forum.com/t10324f13-iPhon....html#msg161728 which may be of interest.
At the end of that post, I said; "Actually... thinking about this, and having written similar software in the past, my bet is that it's the library that they are using to generate the thumbnails - it must be stripping the orientation meta data from the image when it generates the thumbnail." |

Hi all. This has been happening for a week or so now - we just assumed it would be noticed and fixed, but it doesn't appear to have been.
When posting an image from an iThing. the images appear in the post upside down. Clicking on them causes them to display right-way up.
This does seem to be a recent change as it did work fine up until ?one?two? weeks ago.
Thanks Scott |

Hi there
In every website I'm used to typing in a text box and tabbing off to the "Submit" or "Post" button and hitting return.
On the forums, though, the tab order from the Quick Reply textbox takes you way up the top of the screen to the "Search" textbox (literally as far away from the Reply button as you can possible get!).
Can you fix it, please, that tabbing from the Quick Reply textbox takes you to the "Reply" button?
Thanks Scott |

IT WORKS!
Sorry, Alice - after I type the last post it occurred to me that the "Secure: no" statement meant we were not authenticating correctly. I've updated my mail client to authenticate using TLS and it works now.
If anyone else has a similar issue in the future, then there are two requirements;
1) You need to have the account set to "post office box" 2) You need to set your mail client to authenticate |

An update...
We changed the account from 'forwarding' to 'post office box' and, as I suspected, we can now connect via POP3.
However I still get a "Relay access denied" error when trying to send email to homepagemodules.de using our domain name. Does your mail service support sending emails from our own domain?
For your reference, here is the SMTP log of the failed connection. I've starred out the password but do note that the same credentials work fine for the POP3 connection;

Hi there we're having no luck following the instructions to send emails with our forum's domain name. We registered as l200forum.com, and we can get the emails that are sent to users at that address (they are configured to forward on to our daily addresses) but cannot connect to SMTP to send emails.
I'm connecting to mail.homepagemodules.de and I've tried SSL and TLS as well as basic auth, with no luck. I was getting an attempt to send emails, but received "Relay access denied", which makes me suspect that authentication is still failing.
I also can't connect via IMAP, POP3 or via webmail (it gives an error "Can not authenticate to IMAP server: Login failed").
I'm beginning to wonder that, if we have configured Xobor to forward emails at l200forum.com to other external addresses, does this disable the capability to connect to POP3 / IMAP and SMTP?
Any ideas?
Thanks Scott |
