could you please tell me how to turn captcha off??
I have tired unchecking the boxes butit still keeps appering and is driving me mad!

Hi Jayne,

you can activate/deactivate captchas in Admin → Preferences → Security

However, there are certain situations where the captcha will be shown regardless of the setting in the admin panel to improve security.

these situations include:
Guest - comments in the picture gallery and calendar
post written by guests that contain external links.
The login-captcha is shown after 3 username/password errors in a row and can only be deactivated by a successful login.
The login/signup captchas are always shown for certain IP-ranges from Russia.
there might be others as well...

If you feel you should not be seeing a captcha but you still are, just post a link to you forum and I'll take a look at the settings.

I'm having the same problem, and it is causing a lot of fuss for us as our members can not sign up for constantly being told that the captcha is wrong, when it is actually correct. I have tried turning it off, waited a while, and it is becoming quite a pain in still showing and putting members off. While i personally like the captcha, we need it turned off!

Any help would be great. our board is at http://541948.xobor.com/

Hi Becca,

there actually was a change in the captcha system a while ago that caused the captcha to display everytime on the registration page.

For boards with less then 50 members we just disabled this feature, so your guests should not be getting the captcha anymore when signing up. The captcha will however still be shown after three failed login attempts.
