At the moment on the front page, where all the threads are listed, each one has the name of the last poster and the time they posted the last message. I'd also like the name of the last thread posted in....can this be done?

you chose the ProSilver-Template which by default does not show the thread in the "latest post" column.

You can either choose one of our other Template which show the desired information or (if you know a thing or two about HTML) you can create a custom template an change the front page however you like.

The variable you want to add is {{forum:lastmessage_title}}
