Hi just created a forum (Norweian Elkhounds of the United Kingdom) and I am getting complaints that the search facility is in German, also some of the functionality features in the Administration are in the German language. Is it possible that I can change it to English. Or shall I book me some lessons on learning German, I can speak French and Italian but that does not help. Anyway many thanks for this excellent facility, once I have mastered it and got it running right I will look at upgrading.

The forum search should be up and running again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Regarding the admin panel:
If you see any German pages these are usually very new features which have just been introduced in our German boards.
Once they are implemented there, they will be translated and made available in our English forums as well.
Usually we hide these pages from the admins' view in our English forums so if you could tell me where exactly the translations are missing i'll make sure to add them or hide the page until it is translated.

Many thanks it now appears to search in English and does not display the NOT Found in German. However now this forum is displaying without the formatting. Quite strange really. Just have black text on white background. Could be my browser as I use "Maxthon"

Also is there anyway to show when a picture album has been updated? it does not appear in the "Latest posts" other than in the Activity feed which my members seem to hate so they have asked for it to be switched off.

The "latest posts" just show textes written. If your members don't want the activity feed (where you decide what is shown in and what not), you can create a topic "new pics" so everybody can leave a message when he updated an album. The message will be shown in the "latest posts".

I'm afraid that might be the cause. Theres's nothing really we can do about this. If you happen to find out the problem I can try to fix it. We optimize our forum for usage with all major Browsers - Maxthon is not one of them

Yes, it's called the activity feed

Just remove all other information from the feed, name it "Picture Gallery Updates" and your members will never know it's actually the activity feed your are using...

Many thanks. The problem seems to have righted itself and the forum displays correctly now. I prefer the Maxthon browser to IE it is similar but more secure. As for the activity feed the members seem to prefer it off They say it is a bit intrusive and distracting at the top of the Forum . Getting to grips with the settings for this forum now although still finding some of the wording is in German. I just shove it through the translator. Really like the setup, you have done a good job, the members like it better than the previous Multiply Forum (Closing in Dec) While here can I ask if there is anyway to insert video,s in the posts or create a video library. There is a few video's and pics on the old forum that members would like to keep

Hi,

it's very simple to insert videos.

First step, you create a new post. Then click on the video button.

Enter the video URL into the box, then click "ok". "Abbrechen" means "cancel".

Now you have the following tag in your posting. If the box (a step below) is not working, just insert the link directly into your post and write

1
 
[Video]your link[/Video]

around it. Click "Submit".

Now your video is in your posting.

Many thanks for that Alice. I understand how to insert a video from the net but how do you post a video you have taken which does not have a URL. Do I have to post it somewhere else first then link to our doggie site?.

You can also upload a file from your computer, if it's not bigger than 2MB and one of this type: .jpeg, .jpg, .gif, .png, .sxw, .pdf, .txt, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .ppsx, .xlsx, .odt, .sxc, .xls, .zip, .rar, .mp3, .xml, .vsd

To upload, open a new answer and click on attach file right below the textbox.

Then you have to select the file from your computer. Click on Dateien auswählen (that means select file) and choose the file you want to upload. Keine ausgewählt on the right side of the button just means, that you haven't choose a file yet. Later it changes into the files name.

After choosing the file, click on Upload and the file will be uploaded. To insert it into the text box, you have to click insert and choose between automatic size, fullsize or custom. Give them a try to decide wich option you like the most.
